KI ‒ Chance oder Risiko (english)

Hardly any technology is developing as rapidly as artificial intelligence (AI). Millions of users of ChatGPT & Co. are amazed what algorithms can already do today. The potential of AI seems enormous. It will change the way we live, work and interact with each other. It is becoming increasingly clear that we will have to learn how to deal with artificial intelligence wisely and agree on rules.

Baden-Württemberg is a leading region in the field of artificial intelligence: The Cyber Valley in Tübingen is an international beacon for machine learning, and the Innovation Park Artifical Intelligence in Heilbronn is Europe's largest platform for artificial intelligence.

On June 13, 2023, Dr. Anna Christmann, Member of the German Bundestag and Federal Government Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Start-ups, Lucilla Sioli, PhD, Director for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Industry at the European Commission, Jonas Andrulis, Co-Founder and CEO of the Heidelberg-based AI startup Aleph Alpha, and Prof. Dr. Christian Stöcker, author and Head of the Digital Communication program at HAW Hamburg, discussed the opportunities and risks posed by artificial intelligence with the numerous guests on site and the digital participants. Sonja Álvarez, Deputy Head of the Berlin office of WirtschaftsWoche, moderated the discussion.

After a short welcome speech by Stephan Ertner, Head of the Baden-Württemberg State Representation in Berlin, the discussion focused on the regulation of AI within the European Artificial Intelligence Act and whether Europe can maintain its sovereignty in the field of AI.

The event was recorded and is available in German and English.
